Why do an internship? Why are they so valuable?
Internships are a great way to enter the job market during your undergraduate years. Internships are short-term work experiences, typically full-time during the summer or part-time during the academic year. Internship positions may lead to a full-time position following graduation. Anyway you look at it, internships are a great opportunity for building your work experience, improving your resume, gaining professional contacts and putting cash in your pocket. In todays job market having one or more internships on your resume will give you an invaluable competitive edge.
When do I need to apply for an internship?
The earlier the better. Often students apply late in the year and wonder why they get no offers. There is certainly no rule but many companies start to plan for internships months ahead. So start that ball rolling.
