This past weekend Rutgers ChemE Car Team competed at Penn State University for the Regional ChemE Car Competition. For this event, teams build shoebox sized cars that carry 0 - 500 grams of water and must travel somewhere between 15 and 30 meters. The car runs and stops with the use of chemical reactions.
Teams do not know the load or distance until one hour before the competition. This time the load was 0 grams of water and the distance was 17 m.
After two trials, Rutgers managed to stop 4.75 meters away from the target and earned fifth place. We're very proud of our students' success!
