More than 60 former students, colleagues, family members, and friends came together on April 10, 2019, to celebrate the life of Dr. Alkis Constantinides ("Dr. C") – professor, mentor, athlete, and family man – who passed away last fall.

Helen Buettner has been named a 2019 recipient of the Leaders in Faculty Diversity Award, which recognizes university wide excellence in diversity and inclusion. Professor Buettner’s award honors her “distinguished leadership as founding faculty director of the Reilly Douglas Engineering Living Learning Community and for teaching, mentoring and cultivating a spirit of collaboration among students and leading women to succeed as professional engineers”.

This past weekend Rutgers ChemE Car Team competed at Penn State University for the Regional ChemE Car Competition. For this event, teams build shoebox sized cars that carry 0 - 500 grams of water and must travel somewhere between 15 and 30 meters. The car runs and stops with the use of chemical reactions. Teams do not know the load or distance until one hour before the competition. This time the load was 0 grams of water and the distance was 17 m.

The Board of Directors of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) approved Professor Androulakis's election as a Fellow of the AIChE "the highest grade of membership - an honor reaffirming distinctive professional achievements and accomplishments". Professor Androulakis is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).

According to Clarivate Analytics, which is part of Thompson Reuters, this distinction derives from peers, who have acknowledged the influence of his research contributions in their publications and citations. He is now among an elite group recognized for exceptional research performance demonstrated by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations in Web of Science.
